PUBG MOBILE | 10 Tips for Silver and Gold League Players

PUBG MOBILE has been immensely popular among people, especially students. With the competitive nature of the game, everyone wants to secure the highest rank among their friends. This post is for the aspiring players who have recently started playing and have reached up to Gold Tier and are hoping to rank up faster. I will put up another post that will include pro tips for Platinum and Diamond League players.

1) Audio is necessary

PUBG MOBILE has introduced an informative Mini-Map, which shows gunshots, footsteps of nearby players as well as vehicles. These features are absent in the PC version though, and the only method for PC players to locate their enemies is using Sound Input. The in-game sound plays a massive role in a player's success, as we get a lot more information by the sound.

As a matter of fact, while playing with a squad, communication is absolutely essential. Make sure you stick with your squad and update them regarding the whereabouts of enemies.

You can use the in-game quick chat to help your friends locate enemies by pointing your crosshair towards the direction and selecting 'Enemies Ahead'.

Additionally, you can also mark any sort of loot that your friends need by placing your crosshair on the loot item and selecting 'I got Supplies'. So invest in a decent pair of earphones or headphones.

2) Understanding Drop Locations

As players evolve and rank higher, they tend to realise the fact that dropping hot in School or Pochinki and then getting killed early can cause a lot of damage to their rankings. Thus, players tend to drop away from the plane's flight path and visit remote locations where they can loot peacefully without the fear of an early game combat. A really good method of doing this is to drop at the earliest possible and aim for a road that leads to your destination.

As you can see in the above image, Novorepnoye was rather far from the plane's flight path.

So instead, I chose to drop on a road that leads to Novo. While you're in the air, search for vehicles and as soon as you spot one, without wasting any time, hop in and drive away to proceed with your looting. You could also drop down on the road South of Military Base, but vehicle spawn is not very frequent there, so I chose the above road.

3) Enable the Peek Buttons

I have mentioned this in my previous post; go to Settings -> Basic -> Peek & Fire -> Enable. You will then get two buttons above your joystick to peek either side. This option is very useful during combat when there is hard-cover involved, especially indoors. When you shoot someone using the peek option, only a part of your head is exposed, which in turn significantly reduces the area where an enemy can shoot you.

4) Enable Colourful Graphics Style

Another point I have mentioned previously: go to Settings -> Graphics -> Style -> Colourful. This is the best graphics style which helps in spotting enemies across the map. On the other hand, the PC version only features the Realistic Style, which is usually the most difficult when it comes to locating enemies.

5) Gas Cans are important

One of the worst ways to die in the game is when you drive through an open area with players all around you, only to find out your vehicle is out of gas. Thus, always carry a gas can and make sure you use it whenever you get a chance. If you are playing with a squad, the only teammate with a level 3 backpack is the one responsible for this task.

6) The Red Zone can be deadly

As the name suggests, the Red Zone is code for danger. Many players disregard the Red Zone and keep moving in the open as they believe in their luck. After getting killed by the bombings multiple times, which includes a UAZ carrying a full squad, I started taking the zone seriously. Find a way around the zone or just stay indoors till it is safe to leave.

7) Never stand still

The biggest mistake rookies commit is standing still; usually while looting a body, engaging with an enemy, or healing/boosting up. Always keep your hands busy and never stand still. Finish looting up within 5 seconds and leave. Keep moving left, right as well as jump while shooting at an enemy. When you are healing or boosting, you can tap the crouch button repeatedly to avoid snipers from getting an easy headshot.

8) Laying Prone can be dangerous

Most players figure this one out eventually; due to the restrictions that come with the mobile processors, soft-cover objects (grass, bushes) do not render at a long-range distance (roughly 150m). As a result, anyone laying prone at this range is an easy target for snipers. Make sure you always duck behind hard-cover, and only after the zone is <100m, you can go prone without having to worry about this issue.

9) Zig-Zag Running and Driving

During the initial part of the game when the focus is on looting, most players tend to just press the sprint button and run in a straight line. However, as the game progresses and the players have to engage with enemies, running in a straight line calls for trouble as it is very easy to shoot someone, especially using a sniper rifle. Instead, while running from one spot to another, aim for some hard-cover (trees, rocks, buildings or even vehicles) and start running while moving your right thumb left and right alternately. This helps your character move in a zig-zag motion, thus making it hard for enemies to shoot you. The strategy can be pretty useful while escaping the blue zone. The same technique can be applied while moving in vehicles.

10) The Training Arena is pretty useful

The Training Arena can be found in the above section of the menu. It is basically a standalone area where you can test out all the guns with numerous attachments.

You can try shooting at still as well as moving targets over a varied range, as you can see from the above image.

You can also test out all the vehicles the game has to offer on a race course or take your vehicles on a spin all around the island.

The island also has an obstacle course where you can test out your vaulting skills. At the top of the course, you get a ghillie suit as a reward. Try improving your aim in-game at the Training Arena which is open for players for 30 minutes.
